About Kensal Rise

Kensal Rise is known for its Victorian and Edwardian terraced houses, typically built between 1880 and 1910. These properties often feature high ceilings, bay windows, and ornate cornicing. You’ll also find some 1920s and 1930s semi-detached houses, particularly towards the northern edges of the area – Portland Estate Agents can help you find your dream home (whatever your requirements).

A unique feature of Kensal Rise is the presence of a few mews houses, tucked away in quiet cobbled lanes. Some of the most sought-after properties can be found on leafy streets like Crediton Road, Kempe Road, and College Road, where large family homes with generous gardens are common. Chamberlayne Road, the area’s main thoroughfare, offers a mix of purpose-built flats above shops and converted Victorian buildings.

According to HM Land Registry data, property values in Kensal Rise have steadily increased over the past decade.

Currently, there’s a significant development project underway at the former Kensal Gasworks site, which is set to bring over 3,500 new homes, shops, and community spaces to the area, potentially improving local amenities and transport links.
